Getting notified of changes in Klocwork

Getting notified of changes in Klocwork

Make sure you're notified of changes that affect you.

Click the RSS button next to any feed to subscribe via RSS to updates to the feed. For instance, if you subscribe to notifications to your to do feed, you'll always be alerted when you're invited to a code review or when you've been assigned an action.

You can also get email and visual notification of code review updates.

Editing a feed

You can edit your home feed or set up new feeds to ensure that you see only the information that you want to see.

With custom feeds, you can monitor any combination of users and directory paths, so for example, you can set up a single feed to monitor your entire team and all the modules your team is responsible for. You can also view reports for custom feeds.

Creating a custom feed

  1. Click Feeds, if you're not already on the Feeds page.
  2. Click Create a new feed on the far left to add a new feed, or click to edit an existing feed.
  3. Click user to select a user. A user in this context is the person committing the revision or creating a pre-checkin code review.
  4. Click components of the system to select the file path. A component points to both a Klocwork integration project and an absolute path. You can leave the path blank for projects without any common path prefixes.
  5. Click tags to select a tag. If you have tagged your code reviews, specifying a tag here will allow you to filter your feed list by any specified tag(s).
  6. Give the feed a name with 16 characters or less, and click Save.

Getting email notification of updates

If your Klocwork Server is set up for email notification, you can receive emails to warn you when:

  • a comment is created for an issue
  • an action occurs for an issue, or the action state is changed
  • a code review invitation is received or a code review state is updated

By default, your Klocwork profile is configured to receive email notification of these updates, but you can turn emails on and off in your profile for actions, comments or code reviews. To make changes to your profile:

  1. Access your profile by clicking your avatar menu in the upper right of the window and then clicking Profile.
  2. Enable or disable email notifications by clicking the checkbox labeled
    • Receive email notifications for actions
    • Receive email notifications for comments
    • Receive email notifications for code reviews

Getting visual notification of updates

Code Review contains a built-in dashboard that provides visual notifications for items that are relevant to you. The notification area provides visual cues when a comment is created, when an action occurs, when a code review invitation is sent, or when a code review state is updated.

The icons in the notification area represent comments, action items, and reviews:

Whenever one of your feeds is updated, a notification badge appears indicating that a new comment or action has been added, or review has been updated. To view the updated item, click the icon.

If your dashboard looks as follows:

This indicates that you have a review notification for a project or file that you do not have the permissions to see. To view these items, contact your Projects root admin to inquire about getting the proper permissions.
